This treatment shook the aesthetic world up when it blasted into the UK market. It pioneered a totally new category of injectable treatments and had US VIPs hopping on a plane to get in on the action.
What am I talking about? Profhilo. The Profhilo treatment has kept its popularity and momentum in our skin clinic because it offers great results and doesn’t require much recovery whatsoever.
So, without further ado, I’m going to share the answers to some common questions from clients at our skin clinic.
What Are Profhilo injections?
Profhilo injections allow us to deliver this ‘beneath the skin’ skin treatment. Profhilo contains hyaluronic acid, which is produced with Nahyco Hybrid Technology, which makes it possible to deliver seriously high doses of HA which has a ‘bio-remodelling’ effect on the skin.
So, what’s the benefit of bio-remodelling for my skin? Well, it remodels sagging, ageing tissue to enjoy firmer, smoother skin, with deep rehydration.
Profhilo What To Expect
You will have a consultation before treatment is decided on when you visit our skin clinic in St Albans, we will discuss treatment with you thoroughly at this time so that you know what to expect from your Profhilo treatment.
We’ve documented a Profhilo treatment with our Nurse Natalia over on our Instagram.
Are Profhilo Results Instant?
No, this is a 2-part treatment, so you may very well see some positive changes in your skin following the first part of the treatment, in fact some see quite big changes at this time, but it’s really after the second session which is approximately 3 weeks later that you’ll start to see your full results.
How Deep Are Profhilo Injections?
They go into the skin’s dermis, which is the living part of the skin.
How Long To See Profhilo Results?
This depends on the individual as inevitably some will respond more quickly than others. Know that your full treatment is completed once you’ve had your second session approximately 3 weeks later.
Most see their full results in the days and weeks following the second session. It is not unusual to see some results from your first session, however, these will not be your full Profhilo results.
How Often Should I Have Treatments?
It’s recommended that you repeat treatment, should you wish, every 6 months so it’s a twice-yearly treatment for most.
What Age Should You Get Profhilo?
This depends on what you’re trying to achieve. The younger your skin, generally the less correction it will require, but you may have Profhilo treatment to help maintain your skin and to act as a preventative from skin deterioration. You’ll also benefit from the high concentration of hyaluronic acid which goes a long way to keeping your skin cells and tissue healthy.
At our skin clinic, in the main, we treat men and women in their 30s to 70s with Profhilo to both maintain and correct their skin on the fact, neck, decolletage, and body.
Where Is It Injected?
It is injected into the living part of your skin; an area called the Dermis. The exact placement of the product will depend on the area you are having treated, but to give you an idea, there are ten injection sites if you are having your face treated: five on each side of your face.
Who is Profhilo Good For?
Ageing skin; sun-damaged skin; skin that’s losing its firmness and is becoming thinner; dehydrated skin; lines and wrinkles; crepiness; those who wish to maintain their skin prior to signs of ageing become visible.
Can Profhilo Help Rosacea?
Profhilo isn’t a treatment we would use to treat the symptoms of rosacea, however, if someone who has rosacea wanted the Profhilo treatment then there is no reason they shouldn’t have it to improve skin health, improve signs of ageing, and hydrate their skin.
Can Profhilo and Botox Be Done Together?
You can have Profhilo and Botox together. Your practitioner will give you individual guidance as to the suitability of having both treatments on the same day as some areas may be safe to do so, but other areas may not.
What To Do After My Treatment
This is quite a “low maintenance” treatment when it comes to aftercare as there is no or minimal recovery time. We recommend that you avoid extreme temperatures for at least a week after treatment, so no steam rooms, sun exposure, and so on.
For the 24 hours after treatment, we ask you to avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise, swimming should be avoided for 48 hours.
An essential part of your recovery is staying hydrated! Hyaluronic acid loves water.
Finally, if there’s anything that you’re concerned about, always contact your practitioner or skin clinic to talk to them.
Why Choose Profhilo?
The Profhilo treatment has many benefits and there is a multitude of reasons why someone should choose Profhilo; it rejuvenates and smooths your skin and surrounding tissue; firms; and plumps your skin. It stimulates 4 types of collagen and delivers potent hyaluronic acid deep into the skin.
One of our clients called it the ‘airbrush treatment’, and we couldn’t agree more.

Who Does Profhilo Near Me?
We offer Profhilo at our St. Albans, Hertfordshire skin clinic.
For your safety and satisfaction, I’d recommend going to a medical practitioner for this treatment as it involves injections and therefore requires an in-depth knowledge of anatomy. They will also need to understand and have thorough infection control procedures.
Who Can Administer Profhilo?
As I write, the laws and regulations simply aren’t good enough to protect people from anyone picking up Profhilo, dermal fillers, and other advanced treatments, and administering them. So technically, there’s nothing to stop anyone from administering Profhilo.
Hopefully, this lack of regulation will start to change with campaigns from independent bodies such as Save Face. But in the meantime, it’s on the client to consider how they would like to treat them.
For the avoidance of doubt, we are a CQC-registered, Save Face accredited clinic where only highly experienced medical practitioners administer Profhilo. If you’re interested in discussing Profhilo with experienced medical practitioners, contact our skin clinic in St. Albans, Hertfordshire; we’ll be pleased to discuss it further with you.
